Volume 1 of 2 of the Cummins service manual for common rail ISBe, ISB and QSB engines (Bulletin 4021271, October 2014). 916 pages covering identification, troubleshooting, engine teardown and assembly, block and cylinder head.
This is the first half of Cummins Bulletin 4021271, the service manual for B-series engines with the high-pressure common rail fuel system: ISBe, ISB and QSB. It's dated 29 October 2014 and runs to 916 pages.
Volume 1 is where you start a diagnosis or a rebuild. It opens with engine identification and a familiarization section, then troubleshooting by symptom in both the older and newer Cummins layouts, then full engine disassembly and assembly. After that come Groups 00 to 02: the product section, cylinder block and cylinder head.
Fuel system, injectors, lubrication, cooling, air, exhaust and electrical are in Volume 2, sold separately. For a full in-frame or out-of-frame overhaul you'll want both volumes. These manuals are for common rail engines, so check that yours has the common rail fuel system before ordering.
Your engine's dataplate shows the engine model, the engine serial number (ESN) and the CPL number. Compare those with the models above. If you're not sure, email us the dataplate details and we'll check for you.
